Taking control of your destiny

Napoleon Hill Destiny

I was reading the book “The 5 Second Rule” by Mel Robbins yesterday and was very excited by what I was learning as I continued to read one chapter after another. The book is really about following through on your best instincts. For instance you know you should exercise every morning, but sometimes you just don’t feel like it and the procrastination becomes a habit. Repeat this pattern 4 or 5 times and now you haven’t exercised in a week. In the 5 Second Rule, Mel Robbins explains how you can use a technique of counting backwards starting with 5 and then act. So instead of over thinking everything when we have a good idea we just invoke the 5 second rule and take action, otherwise we are likely to hesitate. The natural thing for us to do is to get a good idea, but think about it too much and then decide not to act upon it as we come up with reason after reason for not doing it.

A few months ago I signed up with a network marketing company called MyDailyChoice, which seemed like a great idea as they have great products, a sound marketing system, and an awesome compensation plan. Earlier in the week I had just about talked myself out of pursuing it any further after putting in almost no effort, but after reading the 5 Second Rule, I understand that I really do need to act and not talk myself out of pursuing something that could help me control my destiny. This simple little technique can also be used to help break bad habits and also as a way to do those things that you just find uncomfortable, but could lead to greater happiness and success.

No more procrastination, fear, and overthinking. Go with what your heart is telling you is the right thing to do. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Take Action!
